It's a french word meaning Watermelon

So, why a watermelon … It's a stupdi joke mixing english, french and chti'mi accent of northern France.

Pastèque is a Point of Sales software. Point of Sale has POS for acronym.

Pastèque first developpers are living in northern France where people speak with a chti'mi accent. In this way of speaking, A are pronounced O.

As they were working on a POS Techology, a POS-Tech, it quickly becames … a Pastèque.
